United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF)
The Great Falls United Methodist Youth Fellowship welcomes youth from the congregation and community (grades 6-12) to be in relationship and ministry with each other, the surrounding community, and the world. The UMYF ministry aims to cultivate pre-teen and teenage Christian disciples who continue their discipleship into adulthood.
The Middle School (grades 6-8) and the High School (grades 9-12) groups meet on most Sundays from September through May. The meetings vary in content, with opportunities for Bible study, fellowship, and missions. We meet from 4:00-5:30 pm with a light snack provided by volunteers. In addition to Sunday gatherings, the UMYF Youth Group offers opportunities to participate in Arlington District activities and mission trips throughout the year. For questions or additional information about the United Methodist Youth Fellowship please contact: Kara Neal, the Director of Youth & Family Ministries.. UMYF MissionsThe purpose of UMYF missions in developing discipleship is to help youth grow in personal and social holiness and to ignite a passion for loving God and loving one's neighbor.
Middle School - Youth who complete grades 6-8 by the summer are invited to participate in the Jeremiah Project (JP). JP is a mission experience specifically designed for middle school students; it combines service and worship in a fun and fulfilling experience. Teams of campers spend their days assisting members of the community by completing home repairs (building wheelchair ramps and decks, painting/staining, yardwork, etc.) and spending time in fellowship with those they serve.. At night, the evening programs include creative games, uplifting music, and inspiring worship. High School - Youth who complete grades 9-12 by the summer are invited to participate in varying mission opportunities each year. The mission trips alternate between domestic and international trips. In 2014, the youth participated in a Strong Mission Trip to Costa Rica. The 2015 mission opportunity is to Braxton County, West Virginia with Next Step Ministries. Confirmation Class During the school year, confirmation classes are offered to middle school youth in order to learn what it means to be a disciple of Christ and to discern if they are ready to make the commitment of joining the local church. |
