Music Ministry
Sing to the Lord and share your musical talents! Our church choirs play an integral part in our worship services and faith community. We practice regularly on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. and are recruiting interested singers and ringers for our youth and adult choirs and Handbell Choir.
Great Falls UMC welcomes you to join us in this inspirational ministry and experience the love of Christ through music. Sing to the Lord and share your musical talents! For more information or to volunteer, contact Alice Eelman at alice.eelman@gmail.com.
Adult Sunday School
Our AGAPE group is where you should be to get involved and to know each other better. We start class with short icebreakers and then study His word. The class is currently building community and enjoying videos by Rev. David Jeremiah. No previous experience required – come join us! Sunday’s at 9:00 am in the parlor.
Worship Services
Acolytes are youth from Grades 3-8, who serve during our 10:00 am Sunday Worship Service. They carry in the Light and Cross of Christ during the Prelude and then take them out to the World at the end of the Worship service. The Acolytes serve on a rotating basis. Training for new Acolytes is scheduled in the Fall. For more information, contact the church office at office@greatfallsumc.org. This is a great way to introduce our children and youth into our worship service traditions.
Altar Guild serves behind the scenes by changing the Altar Cloths as needed for the appropriate liturgical colors for various services held at the church. They also fill the candles used at the Worship service; make sure there are flowers for the Altar, Narthex, and Parlor each Sunday; decorate the Sanctuary for Advent and Easter. One or two members of the Altar Guild serve each month. For more information, contact the church office at office@greatfallsumc.org.
Communion servers assist the pastor in serving communion. There is also an opportunity for volunteers to make home visits to those unable to attend communion services at the church. For more information, contact the church office at office@greatfallsumc.org.
Counters, along with an assistant, are needed each week following the service to count the tithes and offerings for deposit. For more information, contact the church office at office@greatfallsumc.org.
Greeters and Ushers have primary responsibility for helping persons feel welcomed and part of the congregation. Greeters primarily stand at both the front and back entrances to the building greeting people as they enter and help to direct visitors to the Sanctuary, Nursery, etc. Ushers stand at the doors of the Sanctuary handing out bulletins, help to seat people if needed, hand out Assisted Listening Devices, and take up the offering. For more information, contact the church office at office@greatfallsumc.org.
Nursery volunteers are needed occasionally to fill in for our paid Nursery Attendant when she is unable to be here and also to assist when there are several infants/toddlers in the Nursery. Our Nursery is available during Sunday School and the Worship service. For more information, contact the church office at office@greatfallsumc.org.
Sunday School Teacher: There are two Children’s Sunday School classes offered for children each week. A class is offered for children in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. A second class, utilizing the one-room school house approach, is for children in 1st through 6th grades. Age appropriate curriculum is provided to the teachers. Share the word of God, with God’s children! For more information, contact the church office at office@greatfallsumc.org.
Readers for Announcements and Opening Prayer are used each week during worship. The Church Office emails or calls the reader during the week with the readings. For more information, contact the church office at office@greatfallsumc.org.
Prayer Group
During the school year, the Prayer Group gathers each Wednesday morning @ 10:40 until 11:00 in the parlor, to lift aloud each member, community, state, country, and situation placed on the prayer list. Everyone is invited to come.
Outreach
Outreach efforts are not only wonderful opportunities for fellowship, they are also vital to an effective church. As followers of Christ, you and I are sent out in ministry and mission. We are to share God’s great love through word and deed. As a congregation, we seek to do that as we learn about and care for those who experience:
- Homelessness and Housing Needs.
- Hunger – Locally and Worldwide.
- Health issues – Mended heart’s pillow and A.E.D. onsite.
- Disasters.
Seasonal ministry events include Souper Bowl food drive, coat drive, tool and bake sale, Arnon Chapel roadside clean up, Back to school supply drive, Thanksgiving Turkey boxes, and Salvation Army Christmas stockings.
